EasyReg is a software written by Herman J. Bierens of Pennsylvania State University, useful to conduct various econometric estimation.
EasyReg is written in Visual Basic 5 and it is available only for Windows operating system.
EasyReg isn't an open source software, but only freeware, that's to say it can be downloaded and distributed freely. The author asks to pay an amount only if you use it in commercial research.
EasyReg hasn't a tutorial included (but for each analysis method there are useful guided tours which are included in the setup file or downloadable separately), however it is very easy to run, and it can be useful both in teaching (there is an option where you can select your own econometric level: undergraduate, intermediate and advanced), and in empirical economic research: really it was originally designed by the author to promote his own econometric techniques, but then he made the choice to build a more general software which could perform every kind of econometric analyses. |

MacAnova was written by Gary W. Oehlert and Christopher Bingham of the School of Statistics, University of Minnesota.
In spite of its name, MacAnova is available for all main operative systems, not just for Macintosh.
Though it has fewer capabilities and it is less extensible than R, MacAnova can be considered as a complete software, but its strengths are analysis of variance and related models, matrix algebra, time series analysis.
As R, even MacAnova is a open source software and it can be downloaded freely.
Among the different resources available in the website, it is essential to download the manual in pdf format "An introduction to MacAnova" , enough to learn how to work in this software. |

OpenStat is a software written in C++ language by Bill Miller from Iowa State University, particularly aimed at Students in Behavioral Sciences. It includes procedures for univariate and multivariate analysis, nonparametric statistics, statistical process controll, simulation and data manipulation tools.
OpenStat can be downloaded freely here (there are Windows and Linux version availables), if you use it only for non-commercial purposes.
On its web site you can download also an help file to be placed in the OpenStat directory.
