| Instat+ is a software written by the Statistical Services Centre at Reading University, UK.
Instat+, as it is a relatively complet package, is useful in teaching statistics (it is used in statistical courses both at Reading University and at School of Applied Statistics in UK, and in other countries too), while it is useful for researchers mainly in climatic data analysis (indeed also the UK weather office has contributed to his development). Instat+ is a shareware program but it can be downloaded freely here if you use it only for non-commercial purposes on a single Pc. In all the other uses you need to buy a license. |
|
| It is available only for Windows operating system (the downloadable Instat+ installation file has the extension ".msi", so you can install Instat+ only if you have Microsoft Windows Installer on your computer).
The Instat+ user interface is similar to the one of various other statistical packages, it has a windows-style menu at the top, and a command line at the bottom from which you can give inputs. Included in the setup file there are the tutorial, the introductory guide and the climatic guide. The tutorial of Instat+ is very useful in learning how to work with different statistical software. Indeed in the tutorial there is a chapter where it is well explained which kind of statistical analysis a spreadsheet can perform and which not, so to well integrate the use of them with Instat+. |
